Archangel Michael is the chief archangel and is one of the most revered archangels in the Abrahamic religions. In Orthodoxy he is called the Archangel, which means “the head of the holy army of Angels and Archangels.”

His name is translated from Hebrew as “Who is like God?” meaning “No one is equal to God.” The word "angel" in Greek means "messenger". The prefix “archi” indicates a more elevated service compared to other Angels. Michael is mentioned several times in the Bible.
