The Decameron

After Boccaccios The Decameron.

The Renaissance, 14th century. Italian vivacity, playful levity, theatrical gestures, unguarded spontaneity – and just a whisper of eroticism.

The canvas features three figures:

– The Youth (azure blue palette): A storyteller-seducer. He whispers something mischievous into the maidens ear (pink palette), gesturing wildly – flushed, aroused, and brimming with confidence.

– The Pink Maiden: She appears inclined to listen, leaning trustingly toward the orator. Yet her pointing finger suggests skepticism – all is not as rosy as he believes!

– The Blue Maiden (right edge of the canvas) — her figure surges forward urgently. Is she: a loyal friend rushing to the rescue, or an eager participant seeking to join this flirtatious tte--tte? That’s for the viewer’s imagination to decide; the artist’s role ends here.

The background mimics 14th-15th-century frescoes: muted, weathered pigments, cracked and peeling in places, with softened silhouettes.
