Behind the Scenes of the Pines

Early spring in Plyos, navigation has not yet opened, but the ice has already melted and there is snow in the thawed patches. The sun is warming and painting the trees on the far bank smoky pink. The light landing stage glows in the sun in contrast to the dark curtain of pines. There are no people and only the sounds of the forest can be heard.

The work is painted in mixed media - dry pastel over watercolor underpainting. It is framed in a silver aluminum frame.
