Raifa Monastery

There are several legends associated with Raifa, but this is perhaps the most famous. They say that the croaking of frogs near the local lake was so loud that it interfered with the prayers of the monks. And somehow, unable to bear it, the monks in their hearts raised a prayer to the Almighty with a request to stop the frogs hubbub. A miracle happened, the frogs fell silent, and silence reigned over the lake.
Since then, frogs have been actively settling on the shore, but they keep a vow of silence.
They say that once frogs were brought here from other places for the sake of an experiment. The frogs, pre-ringed, were released onto the shore of the lake with all precautions. At first they began to croak, but after a couple of hours they fell silent. However, when they were taken several kilometers from Lake Raifskoye, they began to make sounds again.
