The ancient village of Kimzha is located in the Mezensky district of the Arkhangelsk region on the banks of the Kimzha River near its confluence with the Mezen. This village is considered one of the most beautiful in Russia. In Kimzha, large northern two-story courtyard houses have been preserved, in which people still live. Houses overlook the river or the street. Huts in Kimzha are heated with wood, there is no main electricity. Electricity is generated by a diesel generator on the outskirts of the village. Yes, there was not even a year-round road here until 2008. Many buildings in Kimzha are historical monuments. The most important of them is the five-domed tent-roofed Hodegetrievskaya Church (in the picture), built in 1709. This is a real masterpiece of wooden architecture, recently restored.
