So I imagined an ancient icon painter: immersed in work, when the rays of the setting sun fall through a latticed window.
Theophanes the Greek always bribed me with the dashingness of his painting manner.
Being in Novgorod Veliky, I read that the icon painter came there being of forty years old.
In a museum in an old book I saw a miniature with his image: a slender man with a gray, but thick and curly hair.
After that, he began to seem like a close one to me.
True, trying to imagine the features of his face, the way they were during the painting of Novgorod temples, I was inspired by the portraits of El Greco.
