Tutaev, the Church on the cliff on the left Bank of the Volga
Author: Dobrovolskaya Gayane
canvas/oil 45cm x 40cm 2017
Painted from life during a three-day plein air painting in the glorious city of Tutaev.
Preobrazhensko-Kazan church with an octagonal tent bell tower is one of Tutayevs business cards. The temple was built in 1758 near the marina for merchant ships and was perceived as the front gate on the main city entrance from the river side. In the building there are two churches: at the bottom there is the Kazan temple (here is kept the revered icon of Our Lady of Kazan), and at the top - Preobrazhensky (Transfiguration).
