…Having spread the sketchbox, I began to paint feverishly. It grew dark fast. The walls of the houses became bluer, then blue, the sky - paler, the lanterns brighter, and the showcase of the restaurant - bright gold. I was painting while there were visible colours on the palette.
The sketch turned out not so hot, it got dark too quickly, but now, looking at it, I easily remembered both the wonderful place and my mood of that time. I tried my best. The result of the works was a canvas on which the light of the evening sky fights with the light of the lanterns, and the ghosts of old buildings cast sadness about the unfulfilled. But the golden showcase shines like a hope that will still die last. .. "
