Winter Prague. The Church of St. Martin in the Wall is a Gothic church located in the Old Town, built in the Romanesque style (later changed to Gothic) between 1178 and 1187 in the settlement of Uezd, which after the construction of the temple began to be called Uezd at St. Martin. The settlement was divided into two parts during the construction of fortress walls around the Old City in the 30s of the 13th century, which is why the temple began to adjoin one of the walls. This is where the name “in the wall” came from, although it was later demolished. Now the temple belongs to the Evangelical Church of the Czech Brothers.
The temple acquired its current appearance during the late Gothic period.
