The Russian military pilot, deputy commander of a squadron of the 187th Guards Ground Attack Aviation Regiment, Major Guard, died along with many of the terrorists who surrounded him, blowing up grenades with the words «ЭТО ВАМ ЗА ПАЦАНОВ!» (for my dead friends)
Guards Major Roman Nikolaevich Filipov was born on August 13, 1984, Voronezh, RSFSR, USSR - died February 3, 2018, near Serakiba, Idlib, Syria.
On February 3, 2018, when the Idlib de-escalation zone was carried out to control the cease-fire regime, the leading Russian Su-25SM attack aircraft under the command of Major Roman Filipov near the city of Serakib was shot down from a portable anti-aircraft missile system. The pilot tried to hold the plane in the air and reported that he was attacked by a rocket, after which he ejected. On the ground, the pilot was surrounded by militants and died in the ensuing battle: firing from the attackers with a Stechkin pistol, he was seriously wounded, and then blew himself up with grenades with the words "This is for the boys!". The slave of the commander of the ground-attack squadron supported the commander with fire from the air, carried out several attacks, worked on machines that were approaching the olive grove where Roman was. He destroyed two cars and left the zone only when an emergency amount of fuel remained.
Responsibility for the defeat of MANPADS was claimed by the militants of the terrorist organization Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (previously known as Dzhebhat al-Nusra) and the rebel Syrian Free Army (Jaish al-Nasr grouping).
The response precision strike of the Russian military in this square was destroyed three dozen militants, followed by a sweep of the territory by special forces of the Syrian Ground Forces with the support of the Russian Aerospace Force to evacuate the body of the pilot and aircraft parts to establish the type of MANPADS. With the same purpose, special operations were carried out by Russian and Turkish special services.
