The monastery was founded in 1678, near the river Kogylnik. True, at first, the abode called hermitage. She founded her Moldavian Boyar, Mihai Hincu. According to legend, he and his daughter, fleeing from the Tatars, came to this place. Then they make come true: if you survive, build a monastery here. Boyar has fulfilled his promise. His daughter took monastic vows under the name Paraskeva and settled in the monastery.
The female monastery Hincu is situated in 55km of Chisinau. It was founded by Moldavian boyar Mihai Hincu in 1678 and since XVII century it is considered to be one of the richest monasteries in southern Moldova. Hincu is also named the monastery of Saint Paraskeva in honor of boyar-founder daughter. She gave an oath and became a nun by a name of Paraskeva.
Hincu complex consists out of summer church built in 1835 in Russian-Byzantine style and winter church built in 1841. The icon of Saint Great Martyr from Afons mountain was brought especially for cathedral church of Saint Great Martyr Panteleimon. In Soviet time the monastery was modified in recreation department and sanatorium of Health Service Ministry. By the request of inhabitants from neighboring villages the monastery becomes active again in 1990.
Not far from a monastery there is a spring of Cogilnic river that is considered to be mineral and has curative properties. In monastery there is also a small factory of bottling mineral water in plastic bottles which you can buy in Chisinau shops.
