Filippovsky Lane (from the 17th century), first name Protasyevsky.
In the 16th century The street was called Iconnaya, after the settlement of icon painters located here. So we can consider this place a sanctuary of all Moscow artists.
From 1959 to 1993, the street was called Aksakov Lane, named after the writer, official and public figure, author of the famous fairy tale “The Scarlet Flower,” Sergei Timofeevich Aksakov (1791-1859). The writer lived in house no. 9.
