Motor Ship Mikhail Svetlov at the Lena Pillars

The pastel painting “Motor Ship Mikhail Svetlov at the Lena Pillars” (5069.5 cm, 2025) was created from the artist’s own photographs and memories of her journey through Yakutia.
The work depicts the famous river ship Mikhail Svetlov moored at the narrow riverbank opposite the majestic Lena Pillars, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Russia’s most striking natural landmarks.

In the foreground, an artist is shown painting the ship directly from life, while several passengers have come ashore to admire the spectacular scenery.
The Lena Pillars rise on the left side of the composition, towering above the trees with their monumental stone shapes. Overhead stretches a heavy gray-lilac sky, through which rays of sunlight break, casting a silvery glow across the water’s surface.

The artwork is executed in soft pastels on heavyweight premium board, unframed and unvarnished, preserving the delicate velvety texture and the rich layering characteristic of this medium.
