Lisbon: stopping the world

While browsing through a photo gallery from Lisbon, I came across an inscription on the wall of a residential building that read, “Com ou sem visto existo” — “With or without a visa, I exist.” What did the author mean? Its unclear, but then it occurred to me that the best explorers and pioneers live within us — by examining our travel photos, we make discoveries and present our version of the world using the art forms available to us.

I put together a collage of the citys most recognizable symbols
— the embankment overlooking Hristo Rey and Monument to the Discoverers,
— the azulejo tiles,
— Rossio Square with its fountain,
— the Santa Justa Lift,
— the yellow tram,

And small personal details of memory - pastel de nata, a plant, a silver object from a museum that will soon be closed permanently (in the painting, he is transformed into a kokoshnik), and this carelessly philosophical inscription
