Year of the Horse

This handmade postcard, "Year of the Horse," is crafted using etching and aquatint techniques. It was printed by the artist on an etching press on watercolor paper using etching paint and enhanced with watercolors and gold acrylic. This miniature printed work is called Perfelice, as suggested by the letters P.F., which translates as a wish for happiness. Such cards are traditionally created by graphic artists for various holidays, New Years being one such occasion.
The postcard depicts a running horse with a flowing red tail and mane. According to the Chinese calendar, 2026 will be the year of the fiery red horse. Since this is its year, the horse is crowned and dressed in a royal blanket, and bits of snow and gold fly from under its hooves, promising its owner material well-being. The horse runs through a snow-covered forest or perhaps along the alley you take to work. There are already New Years gifts under the tree.
