Biography
My name is Marina Zhuravleva. My main focus is oil painting and acrylics. Additionally, I create playful watercolor
prints for my own t-shirt brand MZ.
In my work, I strive to reinterpret the conventional iconography of consumption that society is accustomed to.
Each painting is a kind of puzzle presented to the viewer, aiming to highlight familiar situations from a new
perspective through distortion of conventional forms, untypical combinations of objects, text graphics, and
attribution of uncharacteristic properties to objects. I seek to emphasize the absurdity of certain situations we find
ourselves in while immersed in an idealized world.
My goal is not merely to entertain or provoke the viewer. I aim to engage them in my games of mind and
emotion, triggering an unconventional interpretation of familiar situations and established images.
