View from the hill to the Chernoostrovsky Monastery

The Chernoostrovsky womens monastery is located on the top of the Black Ostrog Mountain near the banks of the Puddle River.
Thats where the monasterys name came from.
The year of foundation according to the documents is the 16th century.
The monastery was severely damaged in 1812 during the battle for Maloyaroslavets.
