Solomons judgment.
16. Then came two women harlots to the king and stood before him.
17. And one woman said, O my lord! I and this woman live in the same house; and I gave birth with her in this house;
18. on the third day after I gave birth, this woman also gave birth; and we were together, and there was no stranger with us in the house; only the two of us were in the house;
19. And the womans son died in the night, for she slept with him;
20. And she got up at night, and took my son from me, while I, your servant, slept, and laid him on my breast, and laid her dead son on my breast.
22. And the other woman said, No, my son is alive, and your son is dead. And she said to her: no, your son is dead, and mine is alive. And they spoke thus before the king.
25. And the king said: Cut the living child in two and give half to one and half to the other.
26. And the woman whose son was alive answered the king, for all her inwardness was agitated with pity for her son: O my lord! Give her this child alive and do not kill him. And the other said: let it be neither me nor you, chop.
27. And the king answered and said: Give this child a living child, and do not put him to death: she is his mother.
28. And all Israel heard about the judgment, as the king had judged; and they began to fear the king, for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him to execute judgment.
