Golden time

Time. What is time? Why does it sometimes seem infinitely long, while other times days, weeks, and years fly by in the blink of an eye? Im beginning to feel its constant acceleration very keenly now. While working, it flies by completely unnoticed, but when I look at the result of my work, at the finished painting, it seems to freeze.

My paintings are my attempt to stop Time, I think...
The idea for this canvas was born several years ago, but, as often happens, only when the idea is fully formed, all the necessary details selected, and the unnecessary eliminated, can I begin work. It was conceived as the second part of a diptych to the painting "The Golden Staircase," telling the story of a persons lifes journey, of endless movement—some upward, some downward, some with loved ones, some in complete solitude. The only constants are Movement and the Time allotted to traverse this path.
