I have always loved tropical plants — they are full of life, color, and energy.
Once, while returning home in Bali, I decided to stop by one of the small flower shops along the road. The bouquet I found there instantly captivated me: giant strelitzias, some round fruits at the base, curling stems, and lush leaves whose names I didn’t even know. I carefully balanced it on the footrest of my motorbike and brought it home — inspired and smiling, as if nature itself had invited me to paint.
The painting was created in mixed media — acrylic and colored ink. The ink was so lively and saturated that it slightly tinted the back of the canvas, leaving a soft hue there. However, it didn’t affect the image itself in any way — after fifteen years, the painting remains perfectly preserved, with its colors fresh and harmonious.
I added butterflies to the composition — to emphasize the lightness, mystery, and sense of wonder I felt when I looked at that tropical bouquet. It reminded me of the underwater world: fluid, graceful, and filled with life. Like everything in the tropics, it carries both reality and magic within it.
The painting is light yet not overly bright — it’s done in slightly muted, balanced tones, making it easy to integrate into a modern interior while preserving its natural freshness and warmth.
