Firstborns of June

Peonies... These flowers remind me of the beginning of the endlessly short summer, and, oddly enough, of the plein airs at my art school. I remember my mother or grandmother picking a bouquet from the front garden, handing me this big fragrant arrangement, and I go to art class happy, knowing that today the whole group will definitely paint these delicate flowers. The smell of the dewy June morning, of my painting class, is etched in my memory. A faint floral plume combined in the air with the smell of gouache and watercolor, pencils and paper, old pots, jugs, and plaster figures. Well make a couple of sketches and sketches and go to paint our October district: the river Kambileevka, the embankment on the background of Table Mountain, fountains, bridges, old twisted trees...
So many years have passed, but I still remember our plein airs. All the places and points from which we painted sitting on small folding chairs, trips to the city, to the zoo and, of course a trip to the mountains. Yes... That was a wonderful time!
Im glad the painting brought back so many warm memories. I hope that you too, looking at it, will remember something bright and dear.
