"The Passage" – a nocturnal landscape at the threshold between winter and spring. Dirty snow, bare bushes, a wet asphalt path crossed by two yellow streetlamps burning like two eyes. On either side of the path, two trees stand symmetrically, their branches meeting above to form an arch – a portal. In the distance, in a clearing before a dark forest, a lone white birch stands.
The viewer finds themselves on the path, at the entrance to this tunnel. The choice – to step inside or to stay – is theirs. The painting is executed in a cold, subdued palette with rare warm splashes of lamplight.
