Biography
Darya Shulyanskaya (born 2001, Tiraspol, Transnistria) is a watercolor artist whose works are characterized by a lyrical mood, lightness, and dreaminess. She lives and works in St. Petersburg.
She graduated with honors from the A.F. Foinitsky Children's Art School. She holds a master's degree in Sociology from the Transnistrian State University.
Since 2018, Darya has been independently studying watercolor painting and creating commissioned paintings. She also taught painting at an art studio for a year, teaching both adults and children. In 2025, she moved to St. Petersburg, and today she devotes her time entirely to creating new works.
Daria uses watercolor, sometimes acrylic, and oil in her paintings. She creates paintings that focus on people, their emotions, and states of mind. She paints psychological portraits and narrative compositions with figures in space. The main themes of her work are human emotions, vulnerability, solitude, and connection with the surrounding world. The artist creates a visual dialogue with the viewer through the stillness, gestures, and gazes of her characters. A special place in Daria's work is occupied by the complex interplay of light and color: she uses contrasts of warm glow and cool shadows.
