Biography
I create paintings in which sensation and emotion are paramount: the roar of the sea, impressions from travels, and the tenderness and strength of the female image. My aim is for each work to establish a mood and a tangible sense of presence within a space.
I have painted since childhood and graduated from art school. Early in my career I worked with hot enamel (finift), an experience that profoundly shaped my sense of color and my attention to detail. Painting has always been a constant in my life, whatever else I was doing at different times.
In my practice I use painterly materials and prefer medium and large formats where I can freely explore color, texture, and rhythm. At the same time, the miniature works I often create have taught me precision and a keen sensitivity to nuance; the larger canvases, conversely, give me room for emotion and expressive movement.
My ideas are born from journeys, observed places, and personal sensations. Through my paintings I share the world I carry with me and the feelings that matter most — inviting viewers to experience the same moments of quiet intensity, memory, and presence.
