Biography


People's Artist of the Russian Federation, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation. (1934-2006)

Painter. Member of the USSR Union of Artists.
Worked in landscape, portrait, still life, and narrative compositions on historical themes. Born in Syktyvkar. He graduated with honors from the pedagogical department of the Moscow Regional Art School "In Memory of 1905" (1959, first prize for his thesis "In the Far North"). He studied in the easel painting department of the Moscow State Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR (1967).

The artist repeatedly traveled to Crimea, the North, the Volga region, and the Baltics, collecting material for his works. His favorite genre is lyrical landscape. His works are characterized by a harmony of color and light, and by the imagery and spirituality of the nature he depicts.

Deputy Chairman of the Painting Section Bureau of the Moscow Union of Artists (1978–1996), and a member of the Painting Section Bureau of the Moscow Union of Artists since 1996. He was repeatedly appointed a member of the Art Council for Painting of the Noginsk Art and Applied Arts Museum and the Art Council for Monumental and Decorative Arts of the National Art and Applied Arts Museum.

Mikhailov's paintings "White Sea," "Cypress," and "Morning on the Seashore" were exhibited at the republican exhibition of marine artists. Oleg Mikhailov became a regular participant in the country's largest art exhibitions.

Northern regions" (1969), exhibitions "Artists of the central regions of Russia" (1974), "Moscow region" (1980, 1984, 1990), the All-Union art exhibition "Land and People" (1982), the jubilee regional exhibition "50 years of the Moscow Union of Artists" (1996), the republican exhibition "Russia-1X" (1999), The All-Russian art exhibition "In Your Name," dedicated to the 2,000th anniversary of the Nativity of Christ (2000), and group exhibitions of artists' works abroad (1990-2000). The works were exhibited at art exhibitions in our country. (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Vilnius, Vladivostok, Dmitrov, Ivanovo, Kaliningrad, Klaipeda, Kursk, Murmansk, Palanga, Podolsk, Sergiev Posad, Tula) and abroad (Beirut, Berlin, Versailles, Lyon, Ottawa, Paris, Prague, Reims, Sitka, Saint-Etienne, Sofia, Toronto).

10 solo exhibitions in Moscow (1972, 1984, 1995), Noginsk (1962, 1979, 1997), Elektrostal, Orekhovo-Zuyevo (1979), Elektrougli (1997).

Main works: a series of landscape paintings “Across the North” (Arkhangelsk region), a series of works dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the Morozov dynasty in Bogorodsk (Noginsk), a series of works dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of A.S. Pushkin, "Pushkin in Bogorodsk", "Klaipeda", "Cypresses", "White Sea", "Morning on the Seaside", "Spring at the Gorky State Farm", "Palanga", "Warm May", "Autumn Motive", "Night", "Alder", "Summer is Over", "White Night".

The works are in the Noginsk Museum of Local History, in the historical and art museums in Elektrostal, Istra, in the Plyos and Shushenskoye Museums of Local History, in the art museums of Krasnoyarsk, Murmansk, Novgorod, in the art gallery of the city of Elektrougli, at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, in private collections in Russia, the CIS countries, Great Britain, Germany, Canada, Lebanon, the USA, France, Switzerland, Japan and Italy.
