This work is an attempt to capture a moment when the world seems hidden beneath a cascade of petals. The vertical format emphasizes the wisterias cascading clusters, and the dark outline of the branch above creates an arch—like an invitation to step beneath a blanket of color and light. Pastel allowed me to work in layers: soft shading creates a haze of distant blooms, denser strokes highlight the foreground phlox, and vibrant splashes of pink, lavender, and gray-blue convey the play of sunbeams and midtones.
I wasnt looking for photographic precision, but for a feeling—the scent of sweet flowers, the rustle of the wind in the leaves, the silence that descends beneath a blooming canopy. The contrast between the dark trunk and the airy, almost transparent petals enhances depth and makes the composition intimate and intimate. Small flashes of color create rhythm and movement: the wisteria seems alive, trembling at the slightest breeze.
