This plein air sketch was painted at an altitude of about 3000 meters — from a panoramic viewpoint on Mount Cheget, which is accessible by the second stage of the cable car. We arrived there in the afternoon, hoping to have time for painting, but quickly found out the lift was about to close. Time was slipping away...
Still, I decided to take the risk. I placed the canvas board directly on a bench near the edge of the cliff, grabbed my palette knife, and began painting — fast, raw, focused. No easel, no preparation — only the moment.
The view opened onto Glacier Seven, framed between Donguz Orun and Nakra Tau. The sky was an intense ultramarine, the snow glistened, the wind danced around me. I used bold, direct strokes to capture not just the landscape but the pulse of it — sharp, fresh, fleeting.
Back at the hotel, I touched up a few small details — but the essence of the sketch was born right there, in the wind and height. This piece is not about perfection — it’s about presence. About saying “yes” to the moment.
