The painting Pearlescent Dawn was created from life on Mount Elbrus at an altitude of 3912 meters, one day before the ascent to the summit. During this period, I was living on the mountain for acclimatization near the LeapRus shelter. It was a pause day between climbs — a state of inner focus before the next step.
Early in the morning, around 4 a.m., I stepped onto the slope with my canvas and paints. Night was slowly retreating, and the day was just beginning to emerge. The peaks of Donguz-Orun and Nakra-Tau were filling with a soft, pearlescent light, where sharp boundaries dissolve and everything gathers into a single rhythm.
The painting was created quickly, in the cold. In the mountains, there is always movement — wind, altitude, tension of space. Against this backdrop, an inner state becomes especially clear: presence, calm, precision. The work captures this exact moment — a brief pause between preparation and moving forward.
Pearlescent Dawn is not just a mountain landscape. It is a state of inner balance, where the light has already appeared and the path is still ahead.
