In this piece from the "Living Gaze" series, I combined the historical aesthetics of the Joseon era with strict modern minimalism. The bright gold background and blue robes are painted absolutely flat. However, the subjects face breaks this convention. Thanks to the matte varnish, the skin looks warm and real, while the glossy pupils closely follow the viewer.

This painting is designed as a diptych and perfectly complements the matching "Portrait of a Bride".
