"Under the Branches of April"
Oil on canvas
Description and creation story:
This work was born from a personal experience of spring—a time I especially love. For me, spring is not just a season, but a state of mind: a moment of awakening, soft light, and quiet joy. Blossoming trees always seem to me a symbol of a new beginning.
When I painted this piece, I wasnt aiming to create a specific portrait. And yet, many viewers say the woman in the painting resembles me. Perhaps because she embodies my inner state—a love of contemplation, of stopping in the moment, of the spring air filled with anticipation.
The subject sits under a blossoming branch, not posing or playing a role. She is simply present—in space, in the light, within herself. The turquoise background creates a sense of freshness and depth, and the red dress becomes a symbol of inner warmth and strength.
The blossoming branch is painted with three-dimensional, textured brushstrokes of oil. The texture of the petals creates a play of light and makes the surface lively and tangible. Up close, the viewer sees the energy of each brushstroke—something that cannot be fully conveyed in a printed copy.
This work is a one-of-a-kind and carries within it the artists personal story—a story of love for spring, the awakening of nature, and the ability to savor the present moment.
Keywords: contemporary painting, spring park, woman under a blossoming tree, contemplation, awakening of nature, three-dimensional brushstrokes, textured painting, original work, oil on canvas, unique piece.
