Biography

Irina Kupriyanova is an artist and designer who creates bright and multifaceted works in the style of metarealism and decorative art. She was born in 1970 in Yekaterinburg. From early childhood she was fond of drawing, and at the age of 13 she held her first solo exhibition "Sakhalin Childhood". She graduated from the School of Fine Arts at DPSh. She received her first education in the field of financial and economic sciences. In 2008, she graduated from the Moscow Guildford School in interior design and received an education as an interior designer. She graduated from the Moscow Academy of Arts named after N. Krupskaya (2012) with a degree in "painting and easel graphics". Irina is a member of the creative art association "Abris" and the Kaliningrad regional public organization of artists and folk craftsmen "Akvarel". She began painting on glass and ceramics and in 2008, with the support of the House of Folk Art, her first exhibition of glass and ceramic painting took place. Since 2009, she has become interested in batik. Since then, her works have participated in many art events: in the exhibitions "And the Angels Will Come" (Historical and Art Museum), "Magic Lantern", "Baltic Vernissage" and other projects in Kaliningrad and the region. She took part in international festivals such as "A Midsummer Night's Dream" (Kaliningrad, 2009), the international exhibition and fair named after St. Dominic in Gdansk (Poland, 2012). She has held several solo exhibitions: in Zelenogradsk (2010), in Svetlogorsk (2012, 2013), in Svetly (2013, 2017), in Gurevsk (2018) and in Kaliningrad (2013).
In 2021, the artist moved to Montenegro, where the light of the Mediterranean and the sound of the surf became her new sources of inspiration. In 2021, she took part in the exhibition Artists of Herceg Novi (Galerija Josip Bepo Benković). Irina also takes part in local festivals and exhibitions, such as the Mimosa Festival, Fešta od Naranja, Esenja Fešta and Art Gallery in Budva (April 2025).
Deeply convinced of the richness and endless possibilities of the visual image, in her work she actively explores a wide range of materials (canvas, wood, plexiglass, cardboard, paper, fabric, tapestry) and techniques (oil, acrylic, texture pastes, contours, gold leaf and craquelure compositions), creating works filled with unusual details that awaken the imagination. She works with all genres of art - portrait, landscape, life drawing, figurative abstraction and many others. Her art is primarily guided by reflections inspired by her surroundings. Her inspiration is born from the beauty of nature, especially the sea, as well as from a rich inner world of fantasy.
Irina believes that the key mission of her art is to convey joy, love for life and the desire to inspire people to take care of the world and nature. Now she is actively working on new projects, improving and planning to participate in future exhibitions and events. Irina Kupriyanova's works are in private collections in the USA, Russia, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Hong Kong.
