Biography
Alexander Samodurov was born in 1952 in Voronezh in a military family. From early childhood, craving for the stage and a desire to organize others allowed Alexander to show his talent in performances and theater shows. Painting is constantly present in the artist's life during his studies at school and college, working as a director in the theater, working on radio and television.
The lack of choice of art materials leads Alexander Samodurov, who was engaged in artistic advertising in the 90s, to an experiment. He begins to assemble paintings from film scraps. Creating ready-made, the artist turns commercial design into an artistic system that reveals the phenomenon of its time. Sculptural, even theatrically constructed composition in the works of Alexander Samodurov can create the illusion that the artist worked with paints. This pushes the viewer away from the usual visual perception, drawing him to peer into the work. The author's technique is a unique symbiosis of modern and academic fine art.
The author's creative activity is not limited to that of an artist. He is a screenwriter, artistic director and director, teacher of directing and speech culture.
