In this piece from the Phantasmagorias series, the artist seamlessly merges the atmosphere of old Saint Petersburg with imagery far beyond its historical bounds. Emerging from a hazy sky, a commercial airplane cuts across the airspace of the 19th century — and the emotional landscape of its characters.

In the foreground, three elegantly dressed figures enact a silent relational tension. Their posture and placement suggest longing, indecision, and unspoken history. The aircraft, surreal and anachronistic, heightens the sense of dreamlike uncertainty — as if this scene belongs not to a single date but to a time outside of time.

The painting becomes a reflection on love and memory, the convergence of eras and emotions. It evokes a world where the impossible is part of the everyday, and where feelings defy chronology.
