Bouquet of peonies in the old house

The painting "Bouquet of peonies at the old dacha" is a search for beautiful memories of my early childhood. When I was little and came to visit my grandmother, every object in her house seemed special and a magical treasure. Many years have passed since then. But I still, when I see vintage pieces, look for that delightful sense of beauty and charm of family heirlooms.

The work is done in 2021 oil paints on canvas. The ends are painted, which allows the painting to be exhibited without a frame and used as a decoration in modern interiors. There is a suspension for mounting on the wall. The picture is painted from nature in my summer workshop. For the composition I used flowers from my garden.

The manner of execution of this work imitates classical Dutch still lifes depicting fruits. The painting utilizes Old Master painting techniques such as grisaille underpainting, glazes and careful depiction of details in the foreground.
