Diptych, size of each piece - 110x40 cm, canvas on subframe, tempera.
Bedtime is one of my favorite hours. As my weary body touches the coolness of the hard bedding, I am engulfed by inexplicable childish happiness, aesthetic chills even. The dreams are not the place to escape reality, but another magnificent realm. This dimension might be delusive at times, disguising itself as reality, being manipulative; another time you comprehend it as reverie, gaining control over the course of events within a dream. This is the place where your utmost fears and desires are known, dragging you into an uncontrollable torrent of emotion, but you can also reason with them, dismiss them as immaterial. Humility is a very important trait.
Happiness is to share the bed with your beloved one, however you cannot share a dream, as everyone stays there as they are... Initially, when I had been envisaging this diptych, I intended it to converge in a single piece with both canvases remaining a standalone painting at the same time. All the forms, lines and directions I designed to loop the composition, returning the viewers eye to the partners, then the space that hugs them as a soft blanket, then the bright daytime sky, occasionally covered by a shifting cloud.
