I travelled to Portugal in 2017. Its resplendent sun, Vinho Verde and amazingly hospitable people will forever remain in my heart! It was there that I saw the ocean for the first time and was stunned by its power and energy. Cabo da Roca countryside on the westernmost edge of Europe provided one of the most beautiful views, so I decided to make this painting.
I used watercolor paper for this landscape. The underpainting was done in watercolor to create seamless color transitions. The main part was painted with oil in a multilayer technique.
