This painting is a participant of the "Bestiary - 2023" exhibition at the State Darwin Museum in Moscow.
I met this bear at the zoo in a cramped cage. I felt so sorry for him that I decided to release him into the forest, at least with watercolors on paper, with the help of my imagination.
Now this animal is like from a Russian fairy tale. Perhaps that is why the picture turned out as if in a haze. Usually I paint in mixed media, but I did this work on a dry sheet in 1-3 layers. Hence such lightness and transparency, and the bear itself looks more like a fluffy cloud.
