Where epochs meet

Rouen is a city that has preserved a variety of architectural styles since the 12th century.
In places you can see very old buildings, which are lovingly kept in functional condition.
The picture shows Gros-Orloge Street, the face of Rouen, its calling card.
On this street, you can see in vivid detail how eras in architecture meet in a single space.
On the left is a row of old buildings in the half-timbered style. In some places, modern shops or offices are intricately integrated into them. Opposite are a row of classicist buildings, and crowning the composition is a Renaissance clock building, as if accompanied by a Beffrois tower with a Gothic-style bell tower.
And all this splendour gets along perfectly on this narrow street, complements each other and makes the street uniquely beautiful.
The work is executed in a specific technique - thin vertical strokes, and was conceived as an addition to the earlier work ‘Perfection of the dead and triumph of the living’. This pair may well adorn any interior.
