canvas, mixed technique, 100 * 60 cm, 2019
In this work, I wanted to convey the state of awakening of nature, early morning in the mountains. Light enveloping haze, no contrasts, silence around. The strength of the mountains, their grandeur always impress the traveler. In working on the painting, I used a mixed technique. First, I created the texture of the stone using a palette knife and structural paste, emphasizing the edges and shape. Then she covered the surface of the depicted mountains with acrylic, using not only shades of brown and gray, but also bright colors. This gives liveliness and emotion to the picture.
The places where the light falls on the fractures of the edges of the stone, on the tops, were covered with oil paint. I used a palette knife to create rough strokes. I also painted the sky in oils. Thin transparent layers of paint, letting in light, convey the texture of the canvas. Such a contrast of the light sky, soft clouds further emphasizes the rough and uneven texture of the stone. In my work, I used pinkish and purple shades, which are inherent in the morning state.
