The painting was painted on impressions and etudes from life from a trip to the Arkhangelsk region to the village of Lampozhnya, Mezen district.
Mezen is famous for its unique breed of horses... called Mezenka... they easily survive frosts and the harsh northern climate.
The Mezen breed of horses was bred by Arkhangelsk peasants specifically for the northern farmstead. These horses are small in stature, strong and hardy. They walk perfectly in the snow, are well oriented and are unpretentious in food.
One of these horses stole a tube of paint from me and happily ate it, along with the tin tube))).
From the series "Russian North".
