Sunflowers. Turunc

The artist painted this plain air sketch in Turun in the summer of 2022, in a public area near the hotel grounds. The artist finds his favorite motif wherever he travels, both near his home and on distant journeys. Oddly enough, while standing outside the hotel grounds, the artist attracted the attention of the manager, who decided to restrict the artists rights and forbade him from painting the sunflowers that grew on the hotel grounds. Even though the artist painted them outside the hotel grounds, this was the only incident in Turkey in which an artist was prevented from painting a sketch under a false pretext, violating the artists rights and the individuals right to freedom of movement.
This artwork captures the vibrant essence of a sunflower garden, characterized by bold, expressive brushstrokes and a vivid color palette. Three prominent sunflowers form the focal point, their vibrant yellow petals contrasting strikingly against a backdrop of lush greens and soft blues. The dynamic use of texture evokes a sense of movement, as if the sunflowers are swaying gently in the breeze. Each flower is distinct yet harmoniously integrated into the composition, reflecting a masterful understanding of natural forms. The backgrounds abstract strokes and rich layering suggest the warmth of sunlight filtering through leaves, enhancing the scene’s lively energy. This painting’s unique blend of impressionistic technique and emotive color serves as a celebration of nature’s beauty and vitality, drawing the viewer into its serene, sunlit world. Framed in a robust, dark wood frame, the piece commands attention, adding an elegant touch to its presentation.
