Evening in October

October evening. The dim dawn is fading in the sky.
A cool breeze blows. The dark earth is cooling down,
in places.

And the forest has stripped itself bare,
its leaves have fallen into the mud.

And there is no way out of this, apparently,
the true connection has disappeared.

Any minute now, the first snow will cover the black soil dug up by the plow,
and to rest with everyone,
the surrounding area will fall into a dead sleep.
