View from window 2. Saratov, Stolypin Avenue/M. Gorky Street

The second painting from the "View from the Window or Burn with Blue Flame" series. I dedicated my series to the problem of the lightning-fast destruction of cultural heritage sites in the city of Saratov. A common view from the window of city center residents is a burnt-out architectural monument from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The sadness lies in our failure to honor our culture. Saratov is losing the authenticity of a city rich in merchant architecture, leaving no trace for posterity, transforming its streets into soulless, modern boxes.
This painting depicts part of the Rossiya Hotel, located in the very heart of the city. I witnessed its destruction and saw the burnt-out monument from my window every day.
I must say that this building is an exception to the general list of losses; the former hotel is currently being restored.
