A ship under sail arrived in her native harbor. The team reseeding in the boat crossed to the shore, where everyone, relatives, beloved women and children are waiting for. The sun is shining, the sea calmly sways a large ship. Algae are visible near the coast, rich vineyards are at the waters edge, and in the distance there is a beautiful seaside town. The mountain peaks are lit by the gentle rays of the Mediterranean sun and shimmer with gold and emeralds. I did not come up with this idyll, it is quite real and therefore doubly beautiful. When creating this picture, I used the great opportunities of oil paints, and subtle glaze and pasty, greasy strokes and sharp color contrasts on bright, sunny combinations of reflexes and highlights. My teacher, Peter Paul Rubens, loved to combine the Dutch and Italian manner of writing, and so I wrote this picture in 2012, added a sailing ship and a lot of light. An expensive wooden frame borders it like a gem.
