Good Shepherd

When I read this text in my youth in the army service in the armored forces, I fell in love with it forever. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd puts his life for the sheep. But the mercenary, not the shepherd, to whom the sheep are not his own, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep, and runs; and the wolf plunders the sheep, and disperses them. But the mercenary flees, because the mercenary, and does not care about the sheep.
I am the good shepherd; and I know Mine, and Mine know Me.
I am the good shepherd; and I know Mine, and Mine know Me. As the Father knows Me, so do I know the Father; and I lay my life for the sheep.
Later I found out that the name of the sheep is the Soul, unlike the body is tender and vulnerable and there is nothing offensive about it. Moreover, having read the myths of ancient Greece as a child, I knew the cunning and envious, lustful and greedy gods, and here God the Word, God Love, and not weak but ready for self-sacrifice and even death for his "sheep". How not to fall in love with such a shepherd ?! So Ive been going with him for more than 30 years and every day confidence is growing.
The picture is very expressive, the image of the wolf was difficult, the landscape was written from the memories of the monasteries in Suzdal, near Vladimir, where I served. In the image of a shepherd, I see all the fathers standing behind their children.
