This oil painting represents an actual surgical specimen from distal pancreatectomy and splenectomy; an operation performed for the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. The name of the painting reflects the elusive nature of the aggressive disease.
The painting was commissioned by Dr. Victoria OConnor, a prominent surgical oncologist from Los Angeles California, to commemorate the patients battling pancreatic cancer, their families, and their surgeons.
