Kolomenskoye. Two temples

Kolomenskoye is a palace village, a former royal residence located south of the center of Moscow.
The Church of the Ascension of the Lord was built in 1532 by decree of Vasily III in honor of the birth of the son of Ivan IV the Terrible. A tent-roofed temple combining elements of Russian and Western European architecture. An object of cultural heritage of the peoples of Russia of federal significance. UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Temple of the Beheading of John the Baptist was founded by Basil III in 1529 in honor of the conception of his son, the future Tsar John IV the Terrible.
