It was remembered how in student years I worked in an archaeological expedition at Dmitry Fedorovich Kravchenko. We lived then in the Archangel Museum right on the shore of North Dvina, in the department "Archaeological finds." They were engaged in the fact that they described and painted findings from the New Earth on the results of the previous expedition, which found the wintering of Willem Barents. That s when I held up and sketched the personal belongings of the famous seaworder and explorer. From fragments of ceramics I managed to collect almost completely, the most famous in my time in the Netherlands, amphora. They were then called "The Bearded Amphores of the North" Only one workshop had the right to put its stigma. And it was on that amphore! On the wall of the vessel was depicted in relief a male face with a beard. That s why it s the name. The breath intercepted with happiness and awareness that Barentz himself wore it to himself and held it in his hands. I devote this work to seafarers and researchers of the North.
