After the dove, Noah sent the kingfisher to find the earth, but he had to fly high into the sky because of the storm. He turned from gray to blue after bathing in the heavenly blue. The fearless kingfisher flew so high that the sun was under him and painted his belly in red-brown tones. When the kingfisher returned, he did not find Noahs ark and still flies in search of it along river coasts, looking for and screaming for Noah. The blue and red colors indicate his courage because he was not afraid to fly high into the blue depths of the sky above the sun.
