The first buildings and mentions date back to the 14th century, haystacks were harvested on the flood meadows in this area, hence the toponym "ostozhye". There was a hayloft and a stable yard.
In the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Ostozhenka became a prestigious place and was inhabited by the nobility, and later by the merchants and the bourgeoisie. The street retains this role to this day. Only from 1935 to 1986, the street name had a proletarian color – Metrostroevskaya. There are a lot of new buildings here now, and they dont always fit well into the space.
